	BELFAST Am Abend vor dem Flug, sonntags, sehe ich in den Paessen, dass diese seit zwei Monaten abgelaufen sind. Am Montag, 17. Sept. gelingt es mir, bis 10.15 Uhr einen vorläufigen Reisepass für Nordirland zu erhalten. Zwanzig Minuten vor Abfahrt des Zuges von Hengelo erreiche ich eine Parkbucht Dr. A. van Kuyperlaan/Abelenlaan und sattle ohne weitere Umstaende mein Bike – ohne den genauen Standort zu notieren. Obwohl mir der Weg zum Bahnhof nicht bekannt ist, erreiche ich “just in time” den Zug .... Wie immer kommt es auf Shipol zu einer kleineren Dramatik. Trotz anderslautender Vorgabe verlangt EASYJET 20,- Euro für eine Bike-Box. Diese Box muß von mir selbst getapet werden; Luft raus; Lenker gerade stellen; Pedals off. B&B in Belfast und Portaferry waren von mir schon angemailt worden. Botanic Lodge beraubte mich: 40 Brit. Pount / Night. Mit DIFFERENT STROKES in Portaferry konnte ich einen sehr angenehmen Vertrag machen. Sie durfte mich für 5 Tage beherbergen. Treffe in Portaferry JAQUES, als ich in einem Pub nach einem nahen B&B frage. MCNAMARRAS. JAQUES bietet mir an, mein Bike in den PEUGEOT zu schieben und kurvt durch Portaferry. Außer DIFFERENT STROKES sind alle B&Bs ausgebucht. Beides ist phänomenal: Das B&B ist absolute Spitze. Ruhig und luxuriös! JAQUES und ich plaudern noch am selben Abend im Pub mit dem Pub-Besitzer über seine Verwandtschaft in Deutschland und dies und das. Eine Einladung wird ausgesprochen. Am Donnerstag wird ein sehr guter DJ im Pub auftreten. Der Donnerstagabend wird für mich sehr anstrengend. JAQUES hat von seiner “Regierung” keinen Ausgang!? Zahle zwei Pint. Aber ständig stehen da neue Pints. Der DJ ist ein sehr, sehr guter Playback-DJ. Der Abend läuft aus ein einem ausufernden Tanzabend mit Soul-Tracks. Die Pub-Besitzer-Familien sind vor drei Jahren von Belfast aus hierher umgesiedelt. Im Pub läuft SKY auf mindestens drei TVs. Die Betreiberin von DIFFERENT STROKES ist nebenbei noch im HEALING-BUSINESS. Sie ist REIKHI-Meisterin! Massage! Ohr-Piercing schamanistisch! Am Strand des Loughs von Portaferry liegt ein Anwesen, dass zum Verkauf steht. Es gehört einem Hotelier: Preis: Schlappe 1,5 Millionen Pfund/£ !? Zum Thema Biken: Richtiges Workout hatte ich zwischen Flughafen und Belfast 35 km. Die Straße nach Belfast (Hafenstadt) zieht sich sehr hin. Ein Halbkreis der weit oberhalb der See liegt. Das B&B finde ich nur unter Mithilfe eines sehr netten Studenten. Eine Infektion mindert etwas meine Leistungsfähigkeit. Dann Biken von Belfast nach Portaferry. Von Portaferry nach Newfort. Das alles meist an der Straße und mit vollem Gepäck. Aproximately 120 km. Strecke ab Portaferry wunderschön an Lough=Naturschutzgebiet!!! Belfast hat einige Strecken für Biker ausgebaut! Treffe in Clonakilty alte britische, kommunistische Lady. Die aber trotzdem an eine andere Dimension glaubt. Durch ein Medium hat sie Kontakt zu dieser Realität/Dimension. Ich stoße sie auf die kritischen Bücher über die Untaten Stalins. Das kommunistische System hat nicht funktioniert und millionenfaches Leiden verursacht. RADDATZ; SOLCHENYZIN; .... Unfreiwillig strande ich nach Busfahrt in Cork. Gar nicht so häßlich, wie ich immer dachte. Ein junger Mann – ein Messie – wälzt etwa 40 Minuten im Telefonbuch, um für mich ein B&B herauszufinden. Leider hat er keine Zeit für ein Pint. Sehr schlechte Nachricht aus Limerick. Ita O´Brien ist offenbar gestorben. Neue Fenster sind im B&B eingesetzt. Das Haus ist offenbar verkauft. “VILLA MARIA”! Gegenüber hat HILTON ein neues Hotel gebaut. Sie werben mit Wohnen für eine Nacht kostenlos. Wie gut geht es denen? Aber AITSCHJIE hat ein gutes Näschen: 12 Minuten Fußweg zur Innenstadt. HILTON hat den richtigen Platz gefunden. Das Vorgängerhotel JURIES liegt jetzt auf der anderen Seite des SHANNON an einem ROUNDABOUT. MAILS FROM IRELAND Downpatrick, 24. Habe dazu Kontakt aufgenommen mit einem presbyterianischen Geistlichen aus Belfast (Kirche in University Avenue). Bisher nur mit dem Leiter seiner Church-House-Band! Suche noch eine katholiche Gemeinde in OS-Land! Mein erstes B&B "Botanic Avenue" hat mich beraubt! Erst in Portaferry war der Deal ertraeglich. Leider zaehlt der Euro hier in Pound-Land nicht viel! Reiseweg: A'dam - Belfast - Newtownards - Portaferry - Newcastle - Newry - probably Dublin – Clonakilty - Cork Die Fischdishes waren bisher maessig "delishes", da der Fisch oft in Kartoffelsuppe oder Milchreis (????) verborgen wurde. Gestern war der gebratene COD aber sehr, sehr lecker. So werde ich nach Clonakilty durchstarten um eine exzellente Fisch-Kueche zu geniessen. Mein zweites B&B konnte erst mit Hilfe eines Einheimischen aufgefunden werden. Dank an Jacques. Zudem machte der den Kontakt mit einem Pub-Besitzer. So kam ich in den Genuss eines Pub-Abends mit DJ, der irische und us Covers professionell ablieferte. Das ganze gipfelte in einer sehr guten Soul - Mischung. But too much the drink is not good for the traveller. Manche Pub-Owner sind hier zu freundlich, wenn immer wieder ein neues "Pint" vor dir steht. CARSLBERG SMITHWICKS und BASS sind sehr lecker. P.s. Villa Italia at 41 University Road, Giraffe at 54 Stranmillis Road, and the old favourite Frogaties at Shaftsbury Square, don't take bookings either, but are good value and often worth the wait. The Fly just off University Road is also a popular venue, and down by the Albert clock, McHugh's pulls in the revellers, with music at the weekend. For traditional music go to Pat's Bar in the Clarendon Dock area, and close by there is the Rotterdam Bar, where there is also live bands. In Belfast wurde die TITANIC gebaut. 	LIMERICK Limerick is Ireland�s third largest city and lies on a strategic point on the River Shannon. Founded by the Vikings in the 10th century, Limerick is shaking off its reputation for high unemployment and general neglect and is emerging as a city revitalized by new industries and impressive restoration projects. The King�s Island area of Limerick was the first part of the city to be settled by the Vikings. It is home to two of the city�s most famous landmarks � St Mary�s Cathedral and King John�s Castle. St Mary�s is the oldest building in Limerick. Founded in 1172, the original Romanesque west doorway and clerestory are still in existence. Check out the magnificent black-oak misericords dating from the 15th century. King John of England built a castle to guard the Shannon between 1200 and 1212. An imposing sight, the castle was a formidable symbol of British power in the west of Ireland. Today it houses an exhibition on the history of the city and replicas of siege machinery. The Treaty Stone marking the spot on the riverbank where the Treaty of Limerick was signed in 1691 lies directly opposite the castle. Don�t miss the excellent Hunt Museum on Rutland Street. Housed in the Palladian Custom House, it houses the best collection of Bronze Age, Celtic and medieval treasures outside Dublin. The Limerick City Gallery of Art on Pery Square is well worth a visit for its excellent permanent collection which includes works by Jack B. Yeats. Limerick has some stylish cafes � ideal for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up - and fine restaurants serving a range of different cuisines. After dark, head for one of the city�s lively pubs or take in a play at the well-known Belltable Arts Centre.

The interior style is modern classic, with warm colours and quality materials giving it a classy feeling - and her interesting, accessible menus confirm that impression. Clonakilty black pudding features, of course - in a starter dish with Gubbeen salami (from Fingal Ferguson’s Gubbeen Smokehouse at Durrus) & Italian hams - and so does other local produce: Skeaghanore duckling breast, from Ballydehob, features in an unusual main course (with poached pears) for example, while Bantry Bay mussels are cooked in the classic style, with white wine, and served with a delicious Guinness bread. This restaurant has its heart in the right place, the service is friendly and attentive and it gives good value for money.
